Kudos from my students
As the semester has drawn to a close, I am both saddened and enthusiastic. I feel like my time here was fleeting, as I was just getting my feet wet into this course, and has gone by much too fast, I enjoyed working with everyone and hope to see the continuation of writing not just from myself, but from all the contributors here. I look to the horizon with intensity and a greater passion for writing. A geyser of emotions and ideas have sprout forth from my mind and eagerly await to be put onto paper. I have learned of the literary devices at the disposal of a writer, the different techniques that can be utilized to enhance the writing, and the proper execution of creating a distinct and incredible story. By honing these skills and with fierce dedication, I will continue my pursuit as an artist and create something both meaningful and thoughtful in the future. This course has not only taught me some new terms and techniques, but has also strengthened the foundation of my writing. Thank you Dr. Reigle and all of my fellow classmates for a successful and creative learning experience. - Raymond

From Amber: Humanities.
Dr. Rose, my professor of Humanities.
This poem is for you, if you please.
It is said at one time,
All spoke in rhyme.
Courtly conversation required all,
Make the words not small.
To twist words around,
To make beautiful sound.
To increase the thought,
Of those who would not.
Giving pleasure with time,
To make conversation rhyme.
To say it like this,
Would seem not to miss.
Your class was great fun,
We were always on the run.
We learned of things past,
You asked, could it last?
Things are the same, yet they are not.
You had us all on the spot.
An “A” would be great!
If you like the gait.
Of a poetic plea,
To do unto me.
As a professor sees best,
As unto all the rest.
Of your students who write,
Burning candles at night.
From Regina: Humanities:
Thanks Dr. Rose,
I
am going to miss this DB
for
such wonderful class discussions!
Even though I have more assignments to hand in, I wanted you to know as challenging as this class is (all the work) I love every minute of it. I really have to work hard on those exams and my papers, but once it's all over I will truly feel accomplished and satisfied with myself.

Dr. Rose,
I am never able to listen to your lectures live, but always review them in
archive. I just wanted to tell you that this week, I was moved by your words
about literature enhancing our human experience. Specifically when you spoke
about loving people, even when they were living a lifestyle that you didn't
agree with or understand, and just being quiet about it.
I have had some serious drama with a daughter this week and a run in she had
with law enforcement. It required me to exercise some tough love, which has
been very difficult. I was faced with a decision to rescue, which is enabling,
condoning; or as you said, "demonstrating my love (for her) by simply remaining
quiet". Tough love is tough. Thank you for taking time to point out the deeper
purposes of literature and allowing me to be inspired.

English 102:
Because you have guided me ever so silently at times, allowing me to stumble then strengthening my steps, your just being there has made a tremendous impact on my academic and spiritual life this past semester.
Doc, thank you for guiding me successfully through this past semester. The course you planned allowed me to achieve a level of confidence and success that previously was unknown. Silently you laid out the parameters for success by allowing me to constantly improve upon my most recent work while at the same time laying the ground work for understanding the basis of argument. My personal success came with a price earned with personal commitment and your silent yet watchful pen.
I remember when I stumbled ever so slightly, but you were there to catch me before a big spill. I considered it a stumble, but you caught my attention when I received some debits on an essay that I posted too late. I was able to finally look at that situation in a funny light as I had finished the work but was tardy in posting it; it never happened again (lol).
The structure of the program/course was well designed and tremendously effective. I found myself using the writing techniques effectively in other classes with great success. More than success, I found myself being recognized for writing well and accomplishing several other research projects successfully.
Doc, your ability to calm the frayed nerves and jagged edges that we possessed this past term was superb. Somehow you just knew the right thing to say. You instilled calm when deadlines were passed, missed, not achieved, forgotten…. Personally, just being in this class, this year, has been a blessing for me.
Your light and guidance is a special one.
Stay Blessed.
Clarence.
Humanities 2210 & 2230:
Dr. Rose,
Class may not be finished yet, but I wanted to take a minute to say thank
you. When I found out that I would need two humanities classes to fulfill my
general education requirements I was a little surprised. I chose to take both
2210 and 2230 at the same time so I could just get it over with and move on. I
had some excited feeling about it knowing that the topics covered were
interesting to me and I figured it would be semi-enjoyable. Then I read the
syllabus...AHHH!!! Museum report!? Two thousand word essay!? Yes, I was
terrified and worried about having a full time schedule with these two research
filled courses. My wife had to put up with my crying and complaining about
leaving the house to go visit a museum. Hahaha. Now that both classes are coming
to a close, I wanted to say thank you. I really have enjoyed both classes. It's
obvious that you have a passion for what you teach and that makes it more
enjoyable to the rest of us. I really did not interact with you too much during
the classes, but I saw how you interacted with others and I knew that if I had
any questions or problems that I could come to you. Also, I took a look at your
website...those "kids" of yours are adorable. We have 3 furry kids of our own.
Thank you again for making my first semester of college a pleasant one.
Michael
Hi!! Sorry about the
blank e mail, I pressed the wrong key. I just wanted to thank you for helping
me throughout my first class. You made it so much easier for me and I really
appreciate you worrying about me. Thanks to you, I feel very confident about my
future classes and I really wanted to say thank you. I hope you enjoyed this
class with us and I hope to have you as a teacher again in the near future!.
Again, Thank you so much! I think I am off to a great start!!
Sincerely,
A student that really appreciates you and your hard work.
ML
Hi Dr.
Rose. I just want to take this opportunity to say that I have really
enjoyed you. You are tough but that's just what I needed because life is tough
and it takes a person like you to prepare us for what's yet to come. I think I
had a little too much on my plate this term due to the additional writing and I
took your advice for granted at the beginning of the semester when you explained
the writing process and what's required. You are fair though and that's most
important, when I attend J.U. in August, I will have to deal with instructors
like yourself and it's good to know that you have prepared me to be the best.
Thank you for all you have taught me and being just the person you are. it has
been a big pleasure and I wish you many, healthful teaching years of success:)

I just had to add a little note that this is a great class. Last quarter a friend of mine had taken English 102 and complained to me about the peer reviews. Her research paper was completely marked up as incorrect all the way around. She took it to her teacher whom then told her where the peer reviewer went wrong. She got a 90+ on her paper. Getting to my point, I am impressed with the professionalism and kindness our class has when it comes to peer reviews and responding to each others discussion questions. I was very intimidated with taking any English classes let alone 102 because I know I need major improvement in these areas. However, this class has proved to be very wonderful! So a big thank you to everyone, and especially you Dr Rose, for putting up with my 101 questions and being so kind, polite, and friendly. Just had to say it! Mac |

Well, this is it, my very last day of class (at least until I start working on my BA). I just wanted to say thank you for an absolutely amazing class. I had a lot of doubt at first, especially when we started reading Shakespeare, but once we got past that I really enjoyed everything else. I am really glad I got to spend my last four weeks here with you; it was a pleasure. Kristi - English Literature

loved doing homework for!

English 1301:
Well class is winding down I am
the first brave one to submit the Argument Essay. I feel confident in it , and I will be taking the final this week. I just wanted to take the time to tell you thank you for being so understanding to today's soldiers in allowing soldiers to make up certain assignments. You may think all the instructors do what you do but that is not the case. So from me I just want to tell you thank you ma'am. Joseph
It was a pleasure taking your class. Because of you I think I am going to continue taking on line courses. You made my experience very pleasurable. Thank you once again. Lisa from American Lit.
Professor, I must confess that I took this class as a requirement into the nursing program. I was so pleased with the class. I enjoy reading and writing but I was so surprised to discover how much enjoyment I received from the readings and writing projects. I will not begin the nursing program until July and I was glad to get the brain working again. I cannot express to you how much I enjoyed the class. I liked to emerse myself in the poems and short stories and try to determine what their meanings. I also was delighted to discover my own feelings and compare them to other classmates. I will miss the class. I plan on continuing to read and write. I am glad that I was exposed to writers that I would have never thought I would like. I cannot think of anything to change only that I wished it could have been a longer class. I also think that I would enjoy hearing you lecture. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Best wishes to you!! Rebekah from American Lit
This had probably been one of the most fulfilling classes that I have taken thus far. I am an avid reader, and I have always had a passion for poetry. I think that this course has really given me insight into the history of our country, and has shown me the world from the views of our ancestors. I will now recognize the names of these writers when I hear them. This class has allowed me as a student to be more open minded, and I am grateful that we were encouraged to write about what we felt about what we read. I’m sure that everyone learned a lot from this class, and I will not soon forget what I have learned!
Dear Dr. Reigle, I would really like to thank you for the help you provided with my student schedule flip-flop as the Dean put it. Which to tell you the truth, after speaking with the Dean and registrar I was left with a sour taste in my mouth. The number you provided for Judy was great, she is truly astute in her profession, not to mention a beautiful person, one that cares about a student. I agreed to order the required textbook for this class and play catch up. I should expect the textbook would arrive no later then Wednesday. I will give it 110% to catch up to all class assignments, if that is all right with you. Dr. Reigle, thank you for all your help. You honestly were the only one that was able to help me with the flip-flop. I ordered my book early to be on top of my studies, just to have a monkey wrench bring me to a halt. If it were not for you, I would still be stuck. God bless you Dr. Reigle. Teachers like you make a difference. Sincerely, Raymond, English Lit
Dr. Rose, Thanks for all of your help and insight during this class. I feel that you have consistently gone above and beyond to make this a satisfying learning experience. I learned a lot (although my test scores didn't seem to reflect it - my fault!). It was a lot of material in an 8-week class, but it was manageable. I really think that you should mentor other instructors in how to produce on-line content, assignments, and interactive discussions. I've never had an instructor be more responsive and supportive of the never ending questions we students seem to inevitably produce. I'll make sure I fill out my instructor survey - you really shine! Thanks so much for all that you do, Laura.
Dr. Rose, I want to thank you for being my teacher. It is always an honor to be your student and to learn from you. You are a great teacher. If there are any other classes you teach, let me know and I will be signed up. Again, Thank you Dr. Rose for being one of the great ones. Tonya - - Technical Writing
Dr.
Reigle,
I'm sorry to post this last journal so early but I need to leave for IN
tomorrow. My daughter is having a very rough time with kidney stones as I told
you today on the phone. She is only 22 yrs old and I am very worried about her.
I will arrive in IN tomorrow at 6:30 by Allegiant Airlines.
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your class. It is really interesting
how you found a way to unite us even though the class is on line. I never
thought when it began that I would get so much out of it. I really can
understand what you see in those "old dead guys".
You are delightful and you do a wonderful job with the curriculum and I wish you
well in the future. Give all your puppies a hug from me because I simply loooove
animals.
I am so particular about how I write my emails I send now. Maybe that is a good
thing, huh?
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Cindy (American Lit)
Dr. Rose, thank you so much for all of your help! I really enjoyed your class and you taught me so much! Your a wonderful teacher! Kim (English 101 OL)
Thank you for your time in helping us all grow in our writing skills and comprehension. Craig. (English 101 OL)
You have pushed me out of my comfort zone, that is a good thing because I need to be pushed to exceed my limits that I am capable of doing. Denise (English 102 OL)
Thank you so much for your understanding Dr. Rose. I have learned very much from this class and hope take this with me in the future. Anne (English 102 OL)
I am so happy that I am comprehending, its not easy working at nights, managing a household and juggling school. Thank God for his mercy and grace and I am also grateful for having a teacher who has the old teacher traits of being considerate, helpful and willing to share her knowledge. Thank you. Spring Humanities #2210 Online class comments:
| 4/1/2008 7:41 PM | This class was wonderful. There was not a lot of what I call "busy work" rather, fewer assignments that were more in-depth so it made me research more which helped me to learn more. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and took much away from it! |
| 3/29/2008 5:26 PM | I'm not a fan of online classes and I won't take another one, but this class wasn't all that bad. |
| 3/27/2008 9:32 AM | I learned so much... and it was actually fun. |

| 3/28/2008 2:30 PM | Dr. Rose was a great instructor. The course was taught in a manner that made me comfortable with the online format. I learned so much and the comments of the instructor and my peers really encouraged me to do even better. I would strongly recommend my professor to all of my friends. |

Dr. Rosemary, I just want to take this time to thank you for all the help that you have given me this semester, You are a very caring, thoughtful teacher. These classes don't give you much time to get to know a person as good as you would like too, but in this little time I have come to know that you are a very special teacher to me. I also had a very nice teacher last month. I think that this school was a right choice for me. Thank you so much for all that you have put into me, I didn't do as well as I would have like to on the post test, but I do feel that I have come a long way in knowing a little more about William Shakespeare, and others, and there way of expressing themselves in poems and sonnets. Thank you again.
I as well would like to thank you. I have to tell you that you are the first professor that I have had call me since I have started online classes. Nice to know that there really is someone that cares on the other side of all this!
Fall American Lit Online class comments:
| This was my first online course. At first it seemed overwhelming, but it turned out to be a great experience. |
| I enjoyed that class and was really happy with it. |
| I feel that Dr Rose has done a great job in teaching this class on line. She has been very fair with the grades and any concerns or questions she responds right away. I have been out of school for about 14 yrs and thought I was going to struggle but she made my 1st class a great experience. Thank You, Maya |
| I enjoyed taking this course very much. |
| The Professor was wonderful, but the class was difficult. This was my 11th class online and was by far the most work of any course. (and this wasn't even a course for my degree) |
Good Afternoon, Ms. Reigle:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance
throughout this class and for your generous comments. I received your
message, but my schedule has been so hectic between work and school, that I
have not had much time to return calls. I greatly enjoyed the material in
this course. I have completed all of my assignments and I am anxiously
awaiting my final grade. It has been a true pleasure and once again, thank
you, Sophie.
English 102 Thank you so much for this opportunity and explaining to me what you were wanting. I hope I have met your needs. I really appreciate this opportunity and I have enjoyed your teaching process. You are a very down to earth and understanding teacher. Thank you, Danielle
English III: This class was truly an eye opener for me. I was forced to go outside of my comfort zone and think outside of the box. I have always been in the food service industry, even though on the management side, I have never been in a position to use critical reasoning or persuade anyone to believe what I believe. I must say this was a very interesting class. In retrospect, I guess I speak inductively without being conscious of doing so. Because of this class, I will strengthen my reasoning skills and look at things with a more critical eye. I have learned that just because information is written and sounds impressive, that doesn’t mean that it’s how you should view things. I know that being able to use these skills effectively in the real world will advance me in my business, socially and personally. Thank you Dr. Rose! You were very patient with me and you really made this frightening class a pleasant one to take. Monika

Professor, I just wanted to thank you for all your help. being that this was my first on-line class, I was very nervous in the beginning. Thanks to you, I think I will enjoy the rest of my classes. I'm glad you were my first teacher. Theresa: American Lit
I just wanted to say thank you for your
understanding with us in letting us post some things a little late and more
than one post on one day. This helped me out a lot. I had just gotten home
from the hospital from having my daughter on the day class started, plus she
has been having problems with lactose intolerance and switching formulas for
the past couple weeks so it isn't easy for me to get the time to do my
school work on time. I really appreciate you working with us. Dearest Dr. Reigle; |
American Lit: I have absolutely enjoyed this course 100%! I found some of the writings difficult to comprehend at times but I was able to work around that issue. I was able to dismiss alot of stereotypes that I had about American Indians and Southerners in the Colonial years by the writings and poems made available. I was shocked at the level of intelligence possessed by and the complexity of technique in writing style executed in the lines of the works by 18th century poets/writers. I definitely feel that they were far more advanced than 20th century writers with regards to the formal way in which they wrote . My favorite era was definitely the Romantic age in the 19th century; I enjoyed the emotions that poured through each piece of literature that was written. I could feel each writer's passion for the subject in which they wrote about. Thank-You Dr. Rose, even though this course was on blackboard I feel that I gained just as much knowledge and understanding from it, as if I would have in an on-campus course. Shawnte.
English 101: Dr. Reigle,
Thank you for both a challenging and informative class. Most of all thank you for being so flexible with not just myself but the class as you tried to work around us instead of the reverse. It is greatly appreciated.
-SSG Daniels
Dr. Rose, Your class was certainly an experience I will remember. I was very worried going into it. I had little experience with Literature since the High school I went to did not give us such classes, and I was in lower level academics because of some reading problems I had. They didn't even make us read a book a month like most English classes. I was just place where they thought I could cope and left me there and no remedial help was offered. When I graduated in 1982 I had a ninth grade reading comprehension level. ( found out years later) I received some assistance as an adult through adult education services program and brought it up to college level which gave me the courage to go to college after all these years. It certainly has been a challenge, but is has been wonderful. I project, based on my current grades, that I will graduate with a 4.0 GPA at the end of July, then it is on to start my BSIT ! I have come so far in my academics overall, but especially in the areas of reading and writing. Thanks Again. Celia
Dear Dr.
Rose,
I just wanted to drop a little note of appreciation to you for all your help in
our English 101 class. This is my first online class and it's been an exciting
adventure for me. I've already learned so much. Thanks for being so easy to work
with and for helping us iron out all the kinks that go along with starting a new
program. You've been awesome.
Most Gratefully Yours,
Misty
